The Diva Darlings is a support group serving NWA for girls and young women from middle school ages through college.  If you are trying to cope with the impact that comes with having a loved one that has battled breast cancer, the Diva Darlings may be the group of friends you need.  If you know a young lady that could use this circle of support, please pass along the information.

To everyone who participated at Pitch for the Cure 2010...we THANK YOU.  Our fifth anniversary event was an amazing success due to every player, parent, fan, coach, volunteer, sponsor and supporter that became involved.

375 intense games of fastpitch softball took place.  Girls worked hard and showed tons of heart both on and off the field.  We can say the same for lots of volunteers, umpires and field crews.

As always the highlight of our weekend was the ceremonies on Saturday evening.  This year we were also treated to a Native American blanket dance by Eric from the OK Prowlers 8U team.  We then gave our contest awards and took photos before moving to our final ceremony.  Our Balloon Release Tribute Ceremony held the names of those that were honored for their struggle with breast cancer.  Their names were read one by one as a pink balloon was released into the sky.  We'll remember them always as we fight each year to find an end for breast cancer.

On Sunday, we were thrilled to present a check to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in the amount of $37,500.00!  In just five years this brings our total donation amount to $100,000!!!  What an honor this journey has been for all of us!

Join us in the fight against breast cancer!!
June 11-13, 2010

Pitch for the Cure is a girls' fastpitch softball tournament that raises funds for Chicks Charities but also has additional global ambitions attached to it.  We connect regional youth to fight against breast cancer and empower girls to be active for change in their communities.

The 5th Annual Pitch for the Cure is presented by Northwest Arkansas Fastpitch Softball Association dba Springdale Chicks, in special partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark Affiliate.

Since creating and presenting the first Pitch for the Cure in 2006, we've raised $62,500 for Susan. G. Komen for the Cure.  Our event donates 20% of all profits plus some of our weekend activities bring in fundraising dollars that are donated 100% to Komen.

Each team that participates in the Pitch tournament is challenged to collect and bring a team challenge donation that will be given directly to Ozark Komen for the Cure.  This donation is tax-deductible for each team or individual that donates.  Online donations can be accepted through each Team Fundraising Site on this website.  Donations can also be made to a general Pitch 2010 fund that will go directly to Ozark Komen.  During the tournament these donations will be presented to Ozark Komen and an award for the most substantial team donation will be given.

Our 3-day weekend event involves over 145 girls' fastpitch softball teams for 8U MP, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U brackets, plus vendors, sponsors, volunteers and ballparks in Springdale, Fayetteville and Rogers, AR.

In 2006 we started with 68 teams and then upped that to 88 teams in 2007.  Pitch 2008 had 102 registered teams and in 2009 there were 142.  Each year we add more fields, but space is always sold out, so REGISTER EARLY

  • Our early bird registration deadline:  Registrations postmarked by April 1, 2010 save $25.00 off the regular $245.00 fee!  Plus these early teams are registered in a bonus drawing.

  • All tournament games and activities will take place in NW Arkansas.  We use the J. B. Hunt Softball Complex and Tyson Sports Complex in Springdale, Gary Hampton and Lake Fayetteville parks in Fayetteville plus Doc Wheeler Park in Rogers.

  • This is a DOUBLE POINTS USSSA weekend!

  • Our event is a VTD Wild Card Regional event.  1st-3rd place teams win berths to VTD Nationals.

  • Pitch for the Cure provides all game balls and scorekeeping.

  • At team check-in, players receive a player gift bag with great giveaway products from our sponsors and supporters.  This year these bags are a super backsack donated by RINGOR Softball, a Gold Sponsor

  • Non-player (& non-coach) attendees will pay a gate entrance fee each day.  (Teams do not pay a team "gate fee".)

  • First place teams in each fastpitch bracket will receive Schutt softball helmets with face guards for the entire team!

  • First place teams in each bracket will receive full paid entry into their choice of either 2010 USSSA World Series or VTD Nationals.

  • Second place teams in each bracket will receive half paid entry into their choice of either 2010 USSSA World Series or VTD Nationals.

  • Individual awards are presented for 1st-4th place teams.

  • Other team, group and individual contests take place during the weekend.

  • Teams can pre-order event shirts to guarantee sizes and colors are received before sell-outs.

Softball games will be played starting Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday.  We'll have over 300 games to get in during the weekend.  That's lots of ball games!!
