KOMEN OZARK

The Diva Darlings is a support group serving NWA for girls and young women from middle school ages through college.  If you are trying to cope with the impact that comes with having a loved one that has battled breast cancer, the Diva Darlings may be the group of friends you need.  If you know a young lady that could use this circle of support, please pass along the information.

Pitch for the Cure 2011
June 10-12, 2011

$30,000 presented to Komen Ozark

This brought us to a tournament to date total of $130,000 in 6 years!!

Pitch for the Cure is a girls' fastpitch softball tournament that raises funds for Chicks Charities but also has additional global ambitions attached to it.  We connect regional youth to fight against breast cancer and empower girls to be active for change in their communities.

The 6th Annual Pitch for the Cure is presented by Northwest Arkansas Fastpitch Softball Association dba Springdale Chicks, in special partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark Affiliate.

Since creating and presenting the first Pitch for the Cure in 2006, we've raised $100,000 for Susan. G. Komen for the Cure.  Our event donates 20% of all profits plus some of our weekend activities bring in fundraising dollars that are donated 100% to Komen.

Each team that participates in the Pitch tournament is challenged to collect and bring a team challenge donation that will be given directly to Ozark Komen for the Cure.  This donation is tax-deductible for each team or individual that donates.

Online donations can be accepted through each Team Fundraising Site on this website.  Donations can also be made to a general Pitch 2011 fund that will go directly to Ozark Komen.  During the tournament these donations will be presented to Ozark Komen and an award for the most substantial team donation will be given.

Our 3-day weekend event involves over 160 girls' fastpitch softball teams for 8U MP, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U brackets, plus vendors, sponsors, volunteers and ballparks in Springdale, Fayetteville and Rogers, AR.

In 2006 we started with 68 teams and then upped that to 88 teams in 2007.  Pitch 2008 had 102 registered teams and in 2009 there were 142.  For 2010, we flew even higher to 166 teams...we turned away more than 50!  Each year we add more fields, but space is always sold out, so REGISTER EARLY

  • Our early bird registration deadline:  Registrations postmarked by April 1, 2011 save $25.00 off the regular $245.00 fee!  Plus these early teams are registered in a bonus drawing.

  • All tournament games and activities will take place in NW Arkansas.  We use the J. B. Hunt Softball Complex and Tyson Sports Complex in Springdale, Gary Hampton and Lake Fayetteville parks in Fayetteville plus Doc Wheeler Park in Rogers.

  • This is a USSSA NIT DOUBLE POINTS weekend!  There is also a new point scale for USSSA NIT events.

  • Pitch for the Cure provides all game balls and scorekeeping.

  • At team check-in, players receive a player gift bag with great giveaway products from our sponsors and supporters.

  • Non-player (& non-coach) attendees will pay a gate entrance fee each day.  (Teams do not pay a team "gate fee".)

  • Teams are given up to 3 coach passes to wear each weekend.

  • First place teams in each fastpitch bracket will receive matching Schutt softball helmets with face guards for the entire team!

  • Full paid entry will be made to the 2011 USSSA World Series for the 1st place teams in each age bracket, if they choose to compete & qualify.

  • Half paid entry will be made to the 2011 USSSA World Series for the 2nd place teams in each age bracket, if they choose to compete & qualify.

  • Individual awards are presented for 1st-4th place teams.

  • Other team, group and individual contests take place during the weekend.

  • Teams can pre-order event shirts to guarantee sizes and colors are received before sell-outs.

Softball games will be played starting Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday.  We'll have over nearly 400 games plus clinics to get in during the weekend.  That's lots of ball games!!
