Join us
in the fight against breast cancer!!
June 5-7,
2009
The Springdale Chicks unite regional softball teams in a special
annual softball event. Pitch 2009 will raise team funds, assist Ozark Komen for the Cure, encourage girls in sports as a positive life choice
and support other interests related to girls and women.
Since creating and presenting the first Pitch for the Cure in 2006, we've
raised $37,500.00 for Susan. G. Komen for the Cure. Our event
donates 20% of all profits plus some of our weekend activities bring in
fundraising dollars that are donated 100% to Komen.
Each team that
participates in the Pitch tournament is challenged to collect and bring a
team
challenge donation that will be given directly to Ozark Komen for the
Cure. This
donation is tax-deductible for each team or individual that donates.
Online donations can be accepted through each
Team Fundraising
Site on this website.
Donations can also be made to a general Pitch 2009 fund that will go directly to
Ozark Komen. During the tournament these donations will be
presented to Ozark Komen and an award for the most substantial team donation
will be given.
Our
3-day weekend event happens June 5-7th, 2009. It will involve
over 100 girls' fastpitch softball teams for 8U MP, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U brackets, plus
vendors,
sponsors, volunteers and
the great city of Springdale, AR. In 2006 we started with 68 teams and
then upped that to 88 teams in 2007. Pitch 2008 had 102 registered
teams. Each year we add more fields,
but space is always limited, so
REGISTER NOW!
-
Our early bird registration
deadline is coming soon. Registrations
postmarked by April 1, 2009 save $25.00 off the regular $245.00 fee!
-
All tournament games and activities will
take place in NW Arkansas. We use the J. B. Hunt Softball Park in Springdale, AR
plus additional NWA parks. In the past we have also used Tyson
Sports Complex in Springdale and Lake Fayetteville. Due to our
growth in the last 3 years, one park can't hold all of our Pitch for the
Cure teams!!
-
Pitch for the Cure provides
all game balls and scorekeepers.
-
At team check-in, players receive a
player gift bag with great giveaway products from our sponsors
and supporters.
-
Non-player (& non-coach)
attendees will pay a gate entrance fee each day. (Teams do not pay
a "gate fee".)
-
First place teams in each
fastpitch bracket will receive softball helmets with face guards for the
entire team!
-
Individual awards are
presented for 1st-4th place teams.
Softball games will be played starting Friday evening, all
day Saturday and Sunday. Our Pitch tournament includes
vendors
(merchandise, service oriented and health care provider/info), food, a
silent auction, Queen of the Heat pitching
contest, photographer,
team contests,
balloon release tribute ceremony where we also present the Team Challenge awards, contest
awards. During our event weekend we also give a public check presentation to
Ozark Komen for the Cure with the grand total of all funds that are raised
by the event and by each of our teams!
